Facilitate Communication

  • Publish the Student Directory
  • Google map to facilitate car pools for out-of-zone students
  • Frequent communication to parents (emails, letters, AST newsletter and updated
       website)
  • Publish annual Academy Profile (used in conjunction with college and scholarship
       applications)
  • Define Class Representative roles and utilize Class Representatives to enhance
       communication and fundraising information
  • Provide opportunities for interaction with Headmaster and networking with other AST
       parents through coffee with the Headmaster program and parents lunches

Support Educational Objectives, Teachers and Students

  • Coordinate and sponsor Student Explorations; support student travel expenses
       Develop mentor connections for Research and Problems projects, Internships,                 
       Robotics, Science  Fair and Destination ImagiNation
  • Provide Headmaster Discretionary Fund to cover costs of supplies and expenses not
       funded by CISD
  • Administer and provide Academy Senior Scholarships
  • Coordinate Academy Teacher Appreciation Program
  • Help support teacher and counselor professional development expenses and provide
       extra duty pay support for teachers

Promote the Academy Community

Plan and host numerous events including:
  • Parent luncheons
  • Coffee with the Headmaster program
  • Freshman Parent Orientation and Dessert Reception
  • Fish camp
  • All Academy Picnic
  • Academy Student Back to School Swim Party
  • Science Fair Night
  • Special Lectures and Explorations
  • Senior Day at Challenge Course
  • Senior Banquet and Dessert Reception
  • AST alumni-current student luncheon
  • Prior events hosted: Academy Student Meetings, Monthly Teacher Luncheons,
       “Lunch  in the Lab” corporate thank you event, College Planning night
  • AST 20th Anniversary Celebration

Participate in the Academy Campus Improvement (Site) Team at TWCP
Support Academy Student Union

General

  • Improve membership and donation participation by communicating clearly and
       regularly PAST goals and contributions
  • Coordinate production of Academy polo shirt and help with distribution
  • Review and update By-Laws as needed (updated in 2008-09)
  • Partner with TWCP PTA, as appropriate
